Incoming Chairman and President, Covestro LLC

Samir Hifri

As the incoming chairman and president of Covestro LLC, Samir Hifri will serve as the senior leader of the Covestro U.S. organization effective July 1, 2023.

Since Hifri joined Bayer (predecessor to Covestro) as a management trainee in Pittsburgh in 1998, his career has quite literally taken him around the world and back again. Over the last 25 years he has held various positions in North America, Europe and Asia, including global product manager in Germany, director of North American product management, commercial lead for Japan and Korea and head of the coatings and specialties business in Shanghai, China. Most recently, Hifri led the Covestro Hong Kong site as managing director and head of APAC Supply Chain & Logistics.

Hifri holds a bachelor’s degree in international finance from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa., and an executive degree from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. He is married with four children, and, in addition to his professional responsibilities, remains active in a number of community and academic functions.

What’s something that you always have in your refrigerator?

As an avid film-photography enthusiast, I store my film stock in our refrigerator, often to my wife’s chagrin.

Do you have a favorite quote or philosophy that you live by?

Change the things that can be changed. Accept the ones that cannot and have the wisdom to know the difference.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Chocolate

What is the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

Climbing to the summit of Mt. Fuji in Japan and hiking to Everest Base Camp with my son.
